Serenic Releases Navigator 5.00.02 - the Most Comprehensive Release in Product’s History

The release of Serenic Navigator 5.00.02 represents the culmination of a “go-deep” strategy announced at Serenic’s Explorations users meeting in October, 2007. “We kicked off three separate projects in March of 2008,” said Vice President of Product Management Donna Smiley, “and now, only 12 months later, we are deploying the most comprehensive release in the company’s history.”

Significant functional enhancements and improvements were made in all areas of the product, including:

  • User interface and user experience improvements to Business Rules, Workflow, Approvals, and Interfund Configuration.
  • The introduction of new cross-module features: Extended Fields, Dimension Attributes, Entity Integration, and Interaction Management.
  • Improved usability and consistency of Distributed Posting throughout the product.
  • Expanded Interfund Controls into DonorVision, allowing for either Distributed or Traditional posting.
  • Extended Security and Large Notes in CommunityCare.
  • Expanded multi-currency functionality to include DonorVision.
  • Addition of Cost Matching to AwardVision.
  • Completion of approximately 30 enhancements and 75 defect fixes in response to reports from clients, partners, and employees.


Architecture and Design Improvements Mean Easier Maintenance

Navigator release 5.00.02 also includes significant improvements to the system’s architecture and design, resulting in a product that will be easier to maintain. These improvements, together with all of the new and enhanced functionality and product fixes, have undergone Application Benchmark testing (automated testing) that included more than 1,200 scenarios. Multi-user testing was also performed, as a means of identifying possible areas for optimization.

Online Help Updated to Include All New Functionality

The Online Help for release 5.00.02 includes all new functionality. The Online Help for AwardVision and MinistryView also include new, task-based formatting which will be incorporated into all future releases. Additionally, Online Help now includes links to user documentation not currently available in the new format. Users will no longer be required to download and track these pdf files separately.

Online Demonstrations of New Release Features Scheduled

Serenic’s User Education Department has also introduced Release Notes Live!, a virtual tour of the 5.00.02 release notes conducted live via the Internet by Serenic’s product managers. These sessions will highlight the improvements and demonstrate the new functionality. Register for a Release Notes Live! Session or call Celeste Bacon at 877-737-3642 x 108.
